The annual Nantucket Cranberry Festival was held on the 12th of October. Such a scenic and fun event! The cranberry bogs are so pretty this time of year with the contrast of vibrant red cranberries against the blue flooded bogs and golden brown grasses. A great event for families with hayrides, sheep shearing demonstrations, and live music. The cranberry tent is filled with locally and regionally made cranberry products and fresh nantucket cranberries for sale. Another fun activity for kids young and old is sorting fresh cranberries on the antique sorter. Unfortunately the strong wind that day kept our visit short but we made sure to take a hayride around the bogs!
Cranberries make their way into many cookies, cakes and breads this time of year in our house. Our own artisanal Nantucket Cranberry Chutney will be added to our etsy shop in time for Thanksgiving and the holiday season.
