Our first ever Fare Isle Gathering took place last week at the Handlebar Cafe in downtown Nantucket. A small group of us gathered together for a wreath making potluck. We each brought materials collected in nature and some adornments such as ribbon to share. Then we got to work twisting wreaths from scratch with the collected wild grapevines I provided. Unfortunately, serious rainy weather in the days leading up to the potluck kept me from gathering a larger variety of greenery, so we mostly made do with fresh cedar boughs, which smelled divine.
Courtney of the Handlebar was a gracious host. This tucked away spot is perfect for small gatherings like this. I brought some of our mulling spices and Courtney served us mulled cider while we worked on our creations.
This event was the first of hopefully many more. The potluck idea was a hit so in the coming warmer seasons we will do another one with flowers. Flower crowns, anyone? I have a million ideas for others too. Mainly focused around food and crafts, all with a community vibe.
To all of the lovely people who attended last week, thank you! And to those who wanted to be there but could not, we missed you!
