Last weekend we traveled to Maine to visit family and make our way up to the annual MOFGA Common Ground Fair held in Unity. We’ve been hearing about how great this all-organic county fair is for years now and we were so excited to finally go. There seemed to be thousands of people there and the parking situation wasn’t the best, but the fair was well worth the crowds and wait times. Some highlights for us included the largest organic farmer’s market in Maine, where I purchased our seed garlic for next season, Maine maple syrup and maple candies, beautiful succulents, handcrafted herbal products from Avena Botanicals and Blessed Maine Herb Farm, many vegan options at the food vendors, Glendarragh Lavender Farm, Ricker Hill Orchards raw apple cider vinegar, beautiful beeswax candles from Sparky’s (they smell divine), Bee’s Wrap: an organic cotton cloth treated with beeswax and jojoba oil as an alternative to plastic wrap for covering foods. There is so much to see and do, and we can’t wait to return again next year and explore it some more. Nothin’ like a good ‘ole county fair…
